Relieve Tension

Needed:

  • 1 cup water
  • 2 teaspoons dried valerian root
  • Sweetener of your choice

Boil approximately 1 cup of water, and remove from the heat. Then add about two teaspoons of dried valerian root into the water. Cover the pot, and let sit for about 15 minutes. Strain the tea, and discard the used herbs. Sweeten your tea with honey or sugar to your preference.

Note: If you have cats or dogs, please use caution when preparing and drinking this tea, as they both are strongly drawn to the smell of valerian. You should not let your pets digest this tea. This tea should not be given to babies, toddlers, or children, and should also be avoided by pregnant or nursing women.

Valerian root can also be purchased in pill or capsule form at health or department stores, if you find the taste of the tea intolerable, as it is certainly not pleasant tasting.
