Hunter's Prayer to the Lord of Animals

Is it true what they say about you,
Great Lord of Animals?
Is it true that you know what it is to be hunted,
to be sought by those who would take your life?
I hear that, at the end, you turned to face them,
at the moment you knew the time was right,
and stood, a willing sacrifice for the people
awaiting your death.
May it be thus today, Beast Lord.
May no animal come before my weapon except as you will.
May no animal be taken by me except in the moment that is right.
May we never forget that it is death that feeds our lives.
