Hunter's Prayer

The flame on the trees burns away the green of summer.
Summer's last heat is put to good use.
Run with the prey as hunting time starts,
race through the forest with the deer, god of stags.
The blood on the ground, as red as the leaves that fall on it,
flows from your sacrifice as this season is born.
In autumn, the dying time, you come into your own;
the day comes round for your greatest of gifts.
Lord of flame and blood, lord of deer and sacrifice,
Lord of autumn and gifts, bless your people.
