Beltane Ritual

Needed:

  • Incense
  • God candle
  • Goddess candle
  • Milk, juice, or spring water
  • Chalice
  • Bell
  • Athame

Clothing Color: Green

The circle is cast.

The Guardian of the East rings their bell once, stating: “Soft Spring Breeze blow now forth. Greetings unto thee. In the name of the Spring Maiden, we call your presence, Blessed Be!”

The Guardian of the South rings their bell once, stating: “Fiery Beltane fires come forth. Greetings unto thee. In the name of the Spring Maiden, we call your presence, Blessed Be!”

The Guardian of the West rings their bell once, stating: “Cool waters of stream, lake and sea. Greetings unto thee. In the name of the Spring Maiden, we call your presence, Blessed Be!”

The Guardian of the North rings their bell once, stating: “Earth of green and flowers wild. Greetings unto you. in the name of the Spring Maiden we call your presence, Blessed Be!”

Ebony lights the Goddess candle and invokes Her:
EbonyDoe: “Lovely Maiden, Mother, Wise one,
Threefold Goddess be
A flame within my hearts tonight
That grows in energy.
Thy priestess seeks thee.
Fill me now, will all thy magick light.
Come, our Queen, to the Beltane rite
Come share our joy tonight.”

High Priest lights the God candle and invokes Him:
High Priest: “Young Sun King, Horned One, Stag,
Spirit wild and free
Come dance with the Maiden of Spring.
Come forth we welcome thee!
Thy priestess waits for thee!
Fill me now, with all thy magickal light.
Come Young King, to our Beltane rite
Come share our joy this night.”

Everyone's chalices should be filled with the milk/juice/spring water.

EbonyDoe: “The Goddess of Spring walks through the land with the God of the forest and the dark time of winter is behind Them.”

The bells are rang seven times.

EbonyDoe: “The animals breed and the plants pollinate as the May Queen and Green man bestow their blessings upon the Earth's creatures. We, who are their children rejoice with them and ask that their happy union become the example for all humanity to live in love and harmony.”

High Priest: “The dark days are cleared away that the May day can now begin.”

The bells are rang three times.

EbonyDoe: “We acknowledge our needs and offer our appreciation to that which sustains us! May we ever remember the blessings of our Lord and Lady.”

Ebony's athame is taken up in her right hand, the chalice in her left.

EbonyDoe: “As male joins female for the benefit of both, let fruits of their union promote life. Let the Earth be fruitful and let Her wealth be spread throughout the lands.”

Everyone drinks from their chalices.

High Priest: “As we enjoy these gifts of the God and Goddess, may we remember that without them we have nothing. So mote it be!”

Guardian of the East: “We thank you East!
We thank you, Spirits of Air
For your presence here tonight.
Walk with us always
As you dance the cycles of life.
Blessed Be!”

Guardian of the South: “We thank you South!
We thank you, Spirits of Fire
For your presence here tonight.
Walk with us always
As you dance the cycles of life.
Blessed Be!”

Guardian of the West: “We thank you West!
We thank you, Spirits of Water
For your presence here tonight.
Walk with us always
As you dance the cycles of life.
Blessed Be!”

Guardian of the North: “We thank you North!
We thank you, Spirits of Earth
For your presence here tonight.
Walk with us always
As you dance the cycles of life.
